Introducing...
Another of our lovely Rummagers - Clare, of lil curly top
Hello there! My name is Clare and my label is 'lil curly top'. I am studying a Diploma in Fashion at MSIT.

A few years ago my Aunty taught me how to crochet and I fell in love! I enjoy the journey
of creating a new design, all the sampling before you get that eureka moment when everything just looks how I imagined it.

My favourite yarn to use is anything big, chunky and soft. I like designing unique statement pieces which have people turning for a second look. I want to revive the art of crochet and handmade, make it something that everyone wants to be apart of.

I've been attending markets for the past year or so, mainly at the Young Designer Markets at Southbank till recently when I discovered Suitcase Rummage. I just knew it was the place to be!

I also have an online store for my accessories www.lilcurlytop.etsy.com.
Visit Clare online at her store, or see her at the next Suitcase Rummage!

Peppermint magazine
We've been lucky enough to get a mention in this month's Peppermint magazine!

It's really exciting to be included in such a gorgeous, ethical, eco and thoughtful magazine - thank you Peppermint!
The article talks about the movement away from thoughtless consumerism to the resurgence of recycled, swaps, handmade and local products - it looks at consumption, community and common sense. Check out the latest edition (issue 9) for the full article. Or visit their website for lots of lovely things to look at...

Introducing....
I've been concentrating on leather craft lately, all my pieces are hand made and some are even hand stitched. I make new items every month so there's always something different at my stall. Look out for some ostrich, cane toad and snakeskin items in the future rummages!

I reuse as much materials as I can, my leather are all cut offs and I use many things (like zips) from op shops.
Thanks for continuing to support the Suitcase Rummage, vintage and retro gear and especially us, the local handmade artisans!
It's the incredibly creative Jimmy - a regular at our Rummage..
Hi gang, I'm Jimmy and I make clothing, accessories, jewelery and other miscellany under the label Restless. I only sell at the Suitcase Rummage at the moment along with a suitcase of vintage and retro clothing and knick knacks. I'm a veteran marketeer, 10yrs on and off, selling my wares from Valley to Byron Bay and the Rummage from their beginning.

My background is in visual arts and fashion design so I always bring some things that are fascinating and curious. In the previous rummages I've brought medical skulls, russian bear fur hats, my hand painted dolls to my own hair (when I had hair!) made into a necklace.

I occasionally bring my typewriter for people to write their own love letters. One time a fella wrote one that was 5 pages!

I combine good quality yarns, quirky designs and embellishments to make individual looking beanies.I have been selling my wares at markets around Brisbane for a few years now and love the people and atmosphere you find there.
My favourite creation has been an Alice in Wonderland themed Mad Hatter Tea Party where beanies looked like teapots, cakes and scarves were made of iced vo vo's, cupcakes and fob watches.
You can find Linda at our Rummage tomorrow!

Introducing....
I'm Your Organ Grinder and The Little Orchard, otherwise known as Simmone. I make the Organs and the cute brooches and other bits and pieces, plus bundles of other things I just cant roll down to the Rummage every month! I'm a needlefelter, sewer, and general crafter, I'm not good at drawing , but can pretty much make anything out of felt or fleece.
My favourite Organs to make are the needlefelted ears and brains, I also love to needlefelt Owls, and have a few owl necklaces available at the rummage.
My favourite thing about making Organs, apart from the personal love of creating them, is hearing the stories from the buyers of the Organs, people tell me about their operations, their illness, their treatments, their quirky collections, their jobs, their University theses, I love chatting to my customers and hearing about what the piece they buy means to them.
The Little Orchard is all handmade cuties, as well as a few weird creatures. I love fabric and have a lot of it, so I make badges and necklaces out it these days. Come say "hi" at the next rummage!

Rummagers

Suitcase Rummage is a brilliant platform for all budding artists or simple crafters like me who like to get out and meet like minded people and to see others enjoy your craft. So if you are in need of a 'Mo' make sure you come and visit me at the August Rummage.
Visit Sarah at her Box Brownies blog: http://boxbrownies.blogspot.com/
We'd like to introduce the lovely.....
Sarah Rochford of Box Brownies
Box Brownies all started after I saw the ad in Four Thousand which was calling out for people to be involved in the first Suitcase Rummage. I just happened to have found an old suitcase on the side of the road during Council pick up the week before and thought it must have been a sign. I have always loved handmade and unique vintage items but I have only in past year rediscovered my love of creating all things handmade. Most of my items are derived from my love of all things pop culture and nostalgia.
