Introducing....

Another of our lovely Rummagers - meet Tennille of Twig and Bird:
Twig and Bird has been a concept in my head for some time and it finally blossomed to life this spring with my first suitcase rummage. I have started with only a small range, but have many exciting pieces I want to create and add to my collection.
My dream is to allow my creative side to evolve, while developing a business that will allow me to stay at home with my young bub - the most rewarding job of my life to date.

Twig and Bird style is handmade and a twist of vintage. Old, up-cycled and new wears that show the heart, soul and love of their creator. Amongst my own work, I also have vintage fabrics that have been re-created into beautiful hats and up-cycled toys with plenty of personality - made by a couple of my clever friends.
Recently I started learning how to croche, and next in line is a sewing course... keeping me creating and bring new delights to my little venture.
'Like' my facebook page 'Twig and Bird' and join me on my journey as I begin to upload new bits and bobs and one-off pieces that will bring a little joy to your heart.

Introducing...

Another of our lovely Rummagers - Clare, of lil curly top

Hello there! My name is Clare and my label is 'lil curly top'. I am studying a Diploma in Fashion at MSIT.
A few years ago my Aunty taught me how to crochet and I fell in love! I enjoy the journey
of creating a new design, all the sampling before you get that eureka moment when everything just looks how I imagined it.
My favourite yarn to use is anything big, chunky and soft. I like designing unique statement pieces which have people turning for a second look. I want to revive the art of crochet and handmade, make it something that everyone wants to be apart of.
I've been attending markets for the past year or so, mainly at the Young Designer Markets at Southbank till recently when I discovered Suitcase Rummage. I just knew it was the place to be!
I also have an online store for my accessories www.lilcurlytop.etsy.com.

Visit Clare online at her store, or see her at the next Suitcase Rummage!

Introducing....

It's the incredibly creative Jimmy - a regular at our Rummage..

Hi gang, I'm Jimmy and I make clothing, accessories, jewelery and other miscellany under the label Restless. I only sell at the Suitcase Rummage at the moment along with a suitcase of vintage and retro clothing and knick knacks. I'm a veteran marketeer, 10yrs on and off, selling my wares from Valley to Byron Bay and the Rummage from their beginning.
My background is in visual arts and fashion design so I always bring some things that are fascinating and curious. In the previous rummages I've brought medical skulls, russian bear fur hats, my hand painted dolls to my own hair (when I had hair!) made into a necklace.
I occasionally bring my typewriter for people to write their own love letters. One time a fella wrote one that was 5 pages!
I've been concentrating on leather craft lately, all my pieces are hand made and some are even hand stitched. I make new items every month so there's always something different at my stall. Look out for some ostrich, cane toad and snakeskin items in the future rummages!
I reuse as much materials as I can, my leather are all cut offs and I use many things (like zips) from op shops.
Thanks for continuing to support the Suitcase Rummage, vintage and retro gear and especially us, the local handmade artisans!
See you next Rummage. My facebook is facebook.com/restlessaustralia

You can visit Jimmy here.

Introducing....

Another one of our lovely Rummagers - Linda....

My name is Linda and I create beanies and more.
I combine good quality yarns, quirky designs and embellishments to make individual looking beanies.

I have been selling my wares at markets around Brisbane for a few years now and love the people and atmosphere you find there.

My favourite creation has been an Alice in Wonderland themed Mad Hatter Tea Party where beanies looked like teapots, cakes and scarves were made of iced vo vo's, cupcakes and fob watches.

You can find Linda at our Rummage tomorrow!

Rummagers

We'd like to introduce the lovely.....
Sarah Rochford of Box Brownies
Box Brownies all started after I saw the ad in Four Thousand which was calling out for people to be involved in the first Suitcase Rummage. I just happened to have found an old suitcase on the side of the road during Council pick up the week before and thought it must have been a sign. I have always loved handmade and unique vintage items but I have only in past year rediscovered my love of creating all things handmade. Most of my items are derived from my love of all things pop culture and nostalgia.
Suitcase Rummage is a brilliant platform for all budding artists or simple crafters like me who like to get out and meet like minded people and to see others enjoy your craft. So if you are in need of a 'Mo' make sure you come and visit me at the August Rummage.
