V
intage Lover, Collector & Peddler ..

I am a vintage lover!  Unfortunately for me .. my closet and my house have reached capacity and I cannot fit a single item more (unless it is a must have item of course!).  So I have decided to share the vintage goodness around and sell my lovely finds.  In my store you will find pretty things for your home and very pretty things for your closet.

I also make sweet bunting flags from vintage fabrics and papers that inspire me and stock many different themes and colours.  I’m always happy to do a custom order for you too and I can complete bulk orders at a discount rate.  I recently sold 100 metres of bunting to a wedding venue on the Sunshine Coast.

You can find us at the following locations:

February 5 Rummage registration

REGISTRATIONS FOR FEBRUARY 5 RUMMAGE ARE NOW OPEN!

PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE IN  REGISTRATION FEE- IT IS NOW A $25 STALL FEE

This cost includes:
$15 stall registration fee
$10 insurance coverage

Now we want to explain this increase in price:

Firstly, with the growth of this event, have come a growth in costs... So we have had to increase our stall fee by $5 to be able to cover the various elements (venue, marketing, artist fees, administration, wages etc).
Secondly, insurance is a killer... unfortunately, we weren't able to cover all of you within the original fee cost, and with the large amount of wonderful stalls we get, the fee for insurance also increased... If we don't cover this cost however, we wouldn't be able to run the event. Full stop. No two ways about it unfortunately.

We hope you all understand! We look forward to seeing you all again in February.

Love Suitcase Rummage xx

Introducing another of our talented Rummagers! ...

My name is Sarah Fallon and I live in the Redlands, south east of Brisbane. I graduated from the University of Queensland in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Film and Television (not the most vocational of degrees). I new I wanted to do something creative, I just didn't know what, so once I graduated I started playing. I'd always had an interest in jewellery making and so I eventually stumbled back into it. I looked at other peoples work, experimented with technique and style, and found something I really enjoyed doing. It's been about five months since I got started now and I'm really excited with how things are going. My other interests are illustration and writing.

You can contact Sarah for more information below, or drop in say and G'day at the Rummage!

Introducing one of our brand new Rummagers! ... check out her suitcase this Sunday for some recovered treats!

My mother taught me never to waist anything. If you have old apples you stew them, if you have stale crackers you put them in the oven to make them crisp. This waist not want not mentality then shifted to textiles. If you have a nice dress that doesn’t fit anymore…turn it into a top or…if you have old bed linen turn it into a laptop sleeve!

Needless to say all  Recovery items are handmade using recycled materials, making old into new. Most items are made from vintage bed linen that I have collected over time from op shops, some incorporate old scarfs and even old clothes that have been dismantled.

This Sunday will be my first Rummage, I will be selling laptop/ipad sleeves, charger cases, pencil cases and if I can manage to get it finished I will have a quilt cover for sale also.

I’m very excited to be a part of the rummage. Big thanks to the organiser’s of this easily accessible market .

For more information or to contact Recovery, please see details below.

Introducing one of our Rummagers - Hannah from ruby&lo!

Hi everyone, my name is Hannah and I make jewellery and fashion accessories under the name of ruby&lo. ruby&lo started off as a holiday hobby, and now that I've graduated from high school I can focus on growing my label full time.

I taught myself how to sew, and could spend all day choosing fabrics and coordinating lining to be made into pencil cases, clutches, pouches and coin purses. I aim to create unique yet practical items that can be given as gifts or kept for yourself. There is always something for everyone, and I create my products with every age group in mind.

I've been rummaging since March, and I love coming back each month to catch up with other regular stall holders and see returning customers, coming back for more! It is always so thrilling to see people wearing my jewellery or using my purses. Coming up to Christmas, I will be busy creating new products for Summer 2011/12, that will all make perfect (& affordable) Christmas gifts.

Thank you to everyone who continues to come out and support the local handmade artists! It means so much to me knowing that people are enjoying the products I love to create. See you at the next Rummage.

You can find ruby&lo products on madeit: www.madeit.com.au/rubyandlo & keep up to date on facebook:www.facebook.com/rubyandlo

Introducing....

Yukiko - another one of our lovely Rummagers! Visit her at Etsy, her Blog or Her Facebook page......

I was born and raised in Japan.
I have moved around the world with my husband for the last 10 years; 3 years in New Zealand, 4 years in Japan, 2 years in Vietnam
and I came to Brisbane just over one year ago.

I studied interior décor while I was in New Zealand which influenced me a lot about coordinating colours, patterns and textures.
When I was in Vietnam, I worked for a shop that sold vintage items as well as manufacturing clothing and accessories. Through the job I became familiar with various kinds of textiles and gained experience in shop management, production management and graphic design.

I learned about kimono dressing several years ago, and soon I started buying vintage kimono at antique markets in Japan. I was so fascinated by their beautiful patterns, diverse designs and colours, gradually I started to see kimono fabric as a great material for my craft projects. I self taught sewing and jewellery making. I started selling hand craft items online, at events and flea markets about four months ago.
About my products:

Kimono jewellery and accessories
I make a wide range of kimono jewellery and accessories with various kinds of kimono fabrics. Kimono fabrics with small patterns are used for kimono jewellery, kimono fabrics with bold larger patterns are used for bags and scarves, and obi sash fabrics are used for pouches and clutch bags. I usually get inspiration when I see the fabrics I like, then I decide what to make with them.  So I am constantly making something new with different fabrics.

Original jewellery
I source jewellery materials from all over the world including my home country, Japan. I usually mix vintage and contemporary beads which often makes unique yet stylish jewellery.

Introducing....

Another of our lovely Rummagers - meet Tennille of Twig and Bird:
Twig and Bird has been a concept in my head for some time and it finally blossomed to life this spring with my first suitcase rummage. I have started with only a small range, but have many exciting pieces I want to create and add to my collection.
My dream is to allow my creative side to evolve, while developing a business that will allow me to stay at home with my young bub - the most rewarding job of my life to date.

Twig and Bird style is handmade and a twist of vintage. Old, up-cycled and new wears that show the heart, soul and love of their creator. Amongst my own work, I also have vintage fabrics that have been re-created into beautiful hats and up-cycled toys with plenty of personality - made by a couple of my clever friends.
Recently I started learning how to croche, and next in line is a sewing course... keeping me creating and bring new delights to my little venture.
'Like' my facebook page 'Twig and Bird' and join me on my journey as I begin to upload new bits and bobs and one-off pieces that will bring a little joy to your heart.
